Channing Tatum Movies: 'Magic Mike 2' Is Official! 'White House Down' Star Writes Script With Dallas' Bust For Inspiration!

Channing Tatum was the lead actor for the movie, “Magic Mike” and everyone, especially the ladies, knows that. What has not been noticed is that he is also the producer of the movie. Thus, when the sequel was discussed, he was right in the center. Now, he gives us a peek at how hands on he is for the movie.

Earlier in 2013, the movie was almost in doubt because Steven Soderbergh would not commit to be its director. He wants to commit to the film, albeit in a different function speaking to Pride Source:

“We actually just had a meeting about it the other day. It's getting pretty far along. They've got a good idea. There were some stories and events that Channing lived through that we just couldn't fit in the first one. One of them is a really hilarious and very cinematic idea that we reluctantly didn't put in the first film, because it was such a big idea you could build a whole film out of it - but we didn't want to build that film out of it. It's perfect for this, though.

I want to help [but not direct]. I have some proprietary feelings about it, obviously. I want to make sure it gets done and done well, so we meet every couple of weeks to talk about where it's going. But it's gonna be good. It's a good idea. It's not a retread. And there will be more time spent with the characters - all of them.”

In an interview with MTV.com, Channing Tatum narrates:
"I don't know if we can do 'Magic Mike 2' without our general [Soderbergh]. It's hard. It's a hard situation to be in. Soderbergh said he'll produce it, and we're like 'What director is going to want to come on and try to come behind you?' It's hard, but we're going to figure it out. Either he'll do it, or maybe we won't do it."

However, that seems to be a thing of the past now. Channing tweeted a photo today of him writing in an office, and he specifically indicated that he is writing the script for “Magic Mike 2.”

That should not be a surprise. The Hollywood Reporter reminds that Magic Mike is actually a semi-autobiographical account of Channing Tatum. He co-wrote the script with producing partner Reid Carolin.

The funny detail of Matthew McConaughey’s bust (actually a bust of his role Dallas) is a clue that he is possibly in Steven Soderbergh’s office.
