The 'Pretty Little Liars' Season 4 Episode 19 'Shadow Play' concluded with heavy drama. While her friends know that she's with his father, Aria is actually making the most out of her time with Ezra.

With Aria's absence, the girls take the opportunity to investigate Ezra's classroom where they found Ali's stolen diary. The Liars then saw Mona entering Ezra's classroom but instead of the diary, she was after a bunch of papers.

Emily doubts the authenticity of the diary. If it's real, why was it so easy to find? Spencer is determined to find something that will implicate Ezra. She takes her beloved pills which quickly transported her into black and white scenes.

In Spencer's mind, Alison mysteriously appears in her house. Ali tells her that she possesses all the pieces to the puzzle. All she needs to do is to put them all together.

Ezra attempts to ruin Spencer and Toby's relationship by telling the latter that his girlfriend knows that Ali isn't dead. Spencer opts to seal her lips when Toby asks her about it.

Despite her friends' suspicions, Aria surprises the girls by telling her that she has reconciled with Mr. Fitz: "It's been sexy and dangerous and awful and wonderful. It was perfect."

Hanna then shows up and announces that she knows Ali's hiding place - a club. The girls immediately went there only to be faced with an unaccommodating Ali. A gunshot was heard afterwards.

Ezra calls Aria but can her friends tell her what they know about the seemingly love struck teacher? "It's safe. You can come out now. I'll take care of you. I don't know if they told you about me, but it's not true. I'll keep you safe, Aria. I promise. I love you. No one has ever loved you the way I do," he promised.

Even if Spencer tells Aria that she may never trust Ezra, Aria still went him. However, Aria finds out that she actually went with Toby who appeared just in time to rescue the Liars. Aria is still clueless with Toby's decision to hit Ezra.

Toby also tells Spencer to not focus on the actual contents of Ali's journal. He tells Spencer that the diary isn't the same thing.

The 1940 black and white scenes then ended. Spencer realizes that Ali's diary has been edited by A. Fortunately, she has photos of the diary before it was stolen.

Will the next episode of 'Pretty Little Liars' Season 4 finally shed light to Ezra's intentions? How will Aria react if she finds out that her greatest love is the same man who has been mentally torturing her and her friends? Will she side with her friends or will she find a way to debunk the terrifying news?
