‘The Purge 2: Anarchy' Trailer [VIDEO] Nightmare Becomes Real When All Crime Is Legal And You're Trapped Outside!

The frightening premise of "The Purge 2: Anarchy" is the stuff of nightmares! What if you there was a night when all crime is legal, even murder, and you're stuck on the street with car trouble!

"The Purge 2: Anarchy" is the quick sequel to the innovative thriller "The Purge" released in 2013. The film was a relative success, making $ 110 million from a shoestring $ 3 million budget. The sequel was a no-brainer.

The sequel will not feature the same characters portrayed by Ethan Hawke and Lena Headey. The pull of this movie is not about the characters but the premise, and the story of the Sandin family was all but settled.

The new movie will still retain James DeMonaco as director and writer, and still from the Blumhouse Productions outfit that specializes in low-budget horror thrillers (Insidious and The Conjuring to name a few). The new cast is composed of Frank Grillo, Michael K. Williams, Zach Gilford, Carmen Ejogo and Kiele Sanchez.

The rules are still the same: For 12 hours, all crime will be legal. The Government agencies like the Police, the Paramedics and Fire Department will suspend all services at that time leaving all the citizens to fend for themselves in a "kill or be killed" environment. There were various reasons for this(according to the film synopsis): One is evolution-the strongest will survive, and 'the purge' is actually expelling the weak. Another is to release aggression without legal consequences.

Why see the film? There are certain differences, as enumerated by Screenrant: "(There is) a different set of characters - ones that don't have the comfort of an expensive home security system like Hawke and Headey's characters did (common sense, on the other hand...). Instead, they must survive the Purge night in a city that devolves into a full-on war zone with limited sources of shelter available.

The sequel will move the action to a much bigger and potentially more fun playground, but whether or not the film will also be any scarier and/or smarter than its predecessor - that's another matter."

Watch the trailer to find out! The release date, as shown, is June 20, 2014.
