Dakota Johnson Says Anastasia Steele’s English Major Is ‘Kind Of Boring,’ Doesn’t Talk To Parents About ‘Fifty Shades Of Grey’ Role

"Fifty Shades of Grey" movie star Dakota Johnson admitted that Anastasia Steele's English major in college is far from exciting, and revealed that she doesn't talk to her famous parents about what her role as Anastasia Steele in the "Fifty Shades of Grey" movie entails.

In a video accompanying her interview in the March issue of Vanity Fair, the 24-year-old actress reveals that getting ready for the role of Anastasia Steele wasn't always about preparing for steamy sex scenes, The Wrap reports.

Dakota Johnson said that becoming Anastasia Steele for "Fifty Shades Of Grey" required "a lot of getting into the character's head, Ana's headspace, kind of before she meets Christian. So it's a lot of reading, which I love, but she's an English major, so that's kind of boring."

But we're sure it couldn't be all boring - not once Christian Grey entered the picture. Johnson, who is the daughter of actors Melanie Griffith and Don Johnson, also told Vanity Fair that she rarely discusses with her famous parents what her role as Ana Steele entails in the film.

"I think that I would love to have them experience it with me, but I can't really do that, just because of what it entails," Johnson notes. "I talk to them more about problems with my landlords. That's my talking point with my family."

According to E! News, the 24-year-old previously told Elle, "I don't have any problem doing anything. The secret is I have no shame."

"Reading the book, I found myself more interested in the ways they were breaking each other down emotionally than the sex scenes. I think there's a part of a woman that wants to be the thing that breaks a man down," Johnson said about the "Fifty Shades of Grey" novel, written by E.L. James.

"Fifty Shades of Grey" premieres February 13, 2015.
