Liam Payne revealed in a new interview with Top of the Pops that he practiced how to kiss with himself before he started dating.

"I used to practice snogging on the back of my hand," he admitted. "I'm not embarrassed. We've all done it."

When asked about the kind of girls he likes, Liam said: "I like cute, shy girls with really nice eyes."

We think this sounds a lot like Sophia Smith - at least we hope he's dating a girl who matches his preferences!

Liam dated ex girlfriend Danielle Peazer for two and a half years; he's been dating Sophia since July 2013.

In the interview, the One Direction singer also discussed his band's effect on their fans.

"At the first few gigs we ever did, in some night-clubs, girls were fainting and getting pulled out of the audience," Liam confessed. "We thought it was the strangest thing we'd ever seen. I didn't think any of us would get used to the screaming and that reaction. It's just mad."

Liam's bandmate Harry Styles also reflected on devoted Directioners.

"I'm not sure I understand why the girls love us so much. Though maybe it's because we don't pretend to be anything we're not," Styles said. "Yes, we can be idiots sometimes. We are like those boys in the back of the class - throwing paper and making a noise. I think the girls can relate to us in that classroom way, we're basically just a bunch of normal lads."
