"Under the Dome" season 2's cast just got bigger: newcomer Grace Victoria Cox will play Melanie, Joe's new love interest when "Under the Dome" season 2 premieres June 30.

The role of Melanie will be Grace Victoria Cox's first screen credit, according to the Hollywood Reporter. The publication describes her character as "a clear contrast to Norrie (Mackenzie Lintz)." The 18-year-old actress will portray "the lithe, mysterious, beautiful and almost regal Melanie, who catches the eye of Joe (Colin Ford)."

Though The Hollywood Reporter says that Melanie is "from the right side of the tracks," let's not jump to conclusions - it's hard to trust anyone in this show.

As CinemaBlend.com writes, "Not everyone in Chesters Mill has proven to be all that trustworthy."

If you've read Stephen King's novel "Under the Dome" and don't remember a Melanie or anyone else who fits this description, don't be surprised; according to BuddyTV.com, CBS Entertainment President Nina Tassler said that season 2 "goes places the book never went."

Though fans of "Under the Dome" may find this disheartening, Tassler adds that the CBS series is "thrilled to have the master storyteller himself, Stephen King, tell the first [episode] of next season," she said, thereby confirming that King will remain heavily involved in the writing process of "Under the Dome" season 2.

"Under the Dome" also recently added "CSI: NY" star Eddie Cahill and "Misfits" alum Karla Crome as new series regulars, most likely in preparation for the two "favorites" that are soon to be killed off in season 2.
