Friends Reunion 2014 Update: Jennifer Aniston May Skip Friends Thanksgiving Dinner, But She Will Have 'Cake'

Friends Reunion 2014: Jennifer Aniston, who just celebrated  her 45th birthday without her fiancé Justin Theroux, is still said to be the last holdout to a "Friends" reunion. There was word that the cast of "Friends" was tempted to do a reunion special on every Thanksgiving, but Aniston wasn't tempted. What tempted Jennifer was some "Cake."

Jennifer Aniston, hot off her role in "We're the Millers" will star in the indie drama "Cake."

Can't she have her cake and eat it too?

"Cake" comes from a script by Patrick Tobin. Jennifer will play Claire Simmons, "a woman who becomes fascinated by the suicide of Nina, a woman in her chronic pain support class" who is "acerbic" and "hilarious."

Courteney Cox says her ex-husband had a perfect strategy for a "Friends" reunion, whether she brought that up to Jennifer Aniston is anyone's guess. Courteney said David Arquette used to have a great idea and he said, 'What if you guys do an episode of Friends every Thanksgiving. Just come back for that one week to say what is everyone doing in the last year. And we didn't listen, we didn't do it, so now it's too late."

Not all of Jennifer Aniston's movies have been blockbusters. Certainly none have been as big as Friends. But this is just the beginning.

"Cake" director Daniel Barnz said the movie will be the first of 5 films in a $50 million deal made between After Dark Films and Shenghua Entertainment from China.

Speaking about Jennifer Aniston, Barnz said "I've especially loved her more dramatic performances. I can't wait to watch her tackle a role that has such a brilliantly funny voice and so much raw pain."

No word yet on "Cake" will start production.
