Downton Abbey Season 5 Cast Talks Christmas Special Before Premiere As [SPOILERS] New Series Introduces Three New Characters: Lady Shakleton And Lord Flintshire To Return!

Now that "Downton Abbey" season 5 is officially underway with filming, several new cast members have been announced.

E! Online reports that Richard E Grant ("Doctor Who," "Girls") will be joining the "Downton Abbey" cast as Simon Bricker, a guest of the Granthams.

Anna Chancellor ("Four Weddings and a Funeral") will play Lady Anstruther, and Rade Sherbedgia ("24") will play a Russian refugee.

"We are delighted to welcome these talented actors to the world of 'Downton,'" says executive producer Gareth Neame. "The characters they play are set to bring yet more excitement and intrigue to the show."

"We look forward to introducing these new characters to our Masterpiece audience. They will make a wonderful addition to the beloved 'Downton Abbey' ensemble," adds Masterpiece executive producer Rebecca Eaton.

In addition, spoilers confirm that Dame Harriet Walter will return as Lady Shackleton and Peter Egan will return as Lord Flintshire in season 5.

Meanwhile, "Downton Abbey" season 5 is just beginning filming, and one thing the cast appears to want is a white Christmas Special.

“There is a very large campaign going on to make sure that the next 'Downton' Christmas Special will have a tree, snow, and presents,” says actor Allen Leech according to Wet Paint.

"A Christmas, Christmas Special."

Given the broadcast delay for the U.S. audience after Christmas, do you think this is wise for "Downton Abbey" season 5?
