Android 4.4 Kit Kat Release Date Could Arrive To HTC One X In The US, Promises To Bring 2 Years' Worth Of Updates For Upcoming Devices

If you own an HTC One X and you have given up all hope that it will be getting an Android 4.4 Kit Kat release date, then this news will certainly brighten up your day.

According to a new report by GSM Arena, HTC has recently gone to Reddit to answer some questions from other users, and revealed that the company has in fact included the One X to the list of devices that would get Android 4.4 Kit Kat. However, its chipset Tegra 3 does not support the latest version.

Apparently, NVIDIA did not provide the necessary support for Tegra 3 devices in order to port and receive KitKat.

On the other hand, the One X with LTE in the US is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon, but it didn't get KitKat as well. "We didn't think it would be a good experience for our customer base to update the X, but not the X+", HTC managers said.

Now, the Taiwanese has had a change of heart and is now looking to launch KitKat to the HTC One X and One X+, its flagship devices in 2012.

That's one reason to smile for today - at least for owners of these two aging smartphones.
