Ellen Page Comes Out As Gay! Tweets Of Support From Hollywood And Beyond Pour In

Actress Ellen Page has come out as gay! In a speech addressed to counselors of gay and lesbian teens in Las Vegas. Celebrities tweeted their support.

The event was the "Time to Thrive" Conference. "Time to Thrive" is described by The Daily Beast as an event hosted by the Human Rights Campaign Foundation in partnership with the National Education Association and the American Counseling Association, and bills itself as an "inaugural national conference promoting safety, inclusion, and well-being for LGBTQ youth." This year's event was held at the Bally's Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas.

"I am here today because I am gay. And because maybe I can make a difference to help others have an easier and more hopeful time."

"I feel a personal obligation and a social responsibility. I also do it selfishly, because I'm tired of hiding. And I'm tired of lying by omission. I suffered for years because I was scared to be out. My spirit suffered, my mental health suffered, and my relationships suffered. And I'm standing here today, with all of you, on the other side of that pain."
