NBA Trade Rumors: Harrison Barnes, David Lee Shopped By Warriors? Taj Gibson On Golden State Radar For Playoff Run!

The Golden State Warriors had a lot of promise after the end of their unexpected playoff run. They were expected to be contenders with Stephen Curry's further improvement.

Stephen Curry did improve. From top All-Star Snub last year, he is now the starting point guard for the West All-Stars. He is also a candidate for first team All NBA. However, the Warriors are at no.8, desperatelty fighting to hold on for the last playoff spot. Nobody imagined them like this, especially with highly touted summer signee, Andre Iguodala.

It is clear that the problem for the Warriors has been inside scoring strength, something that David Lee used to bring. The Warriors have shopped him around, and are unable to find some takers. Golden State is looking for a strong and gritty inside man, like Taj Gibson of the Chicago Bulls. He would be a real asset in the playoffs!

From Warriors World: "In fact, while the idea of moving Lee for a shorter deal to potentially procure a better fitting Power Forward makes sense, very few compatible trade partners have the desire to make that happen. I should know- I have been trying to figure out a way for the Warriors to move Lee for Taj Gibson (which would have to involve a third team to take Lee and give Chicago expiring contracts and/or assets since they do not want him) since Gibson was first rumored to be available. Cleveland, Charlotte, and Brooklyn stand out as facilitators but each has reasons not to do the deal."

Cleveland will not take David Lee because they still have Tristan Thompson, whom they still believe is their primary frontcourt man of the future.

Another player being shopped is Harrison Barnes. From Warriors World: "While many of us still believe in Barnes, the more casual observer or anyone who looks at his season stats may see his recent play and the fact that the Warriors would be moving him so quickly as signs that the team will take less for him than they should."

From Grantland: "The Barnes/Thompson discussion is fascinating, but the Warriors don't appear ready to have it just yet. Golden State has three major rotation wings in Iguodala, Thompson, and Barnes, and a roster that might one day be in need of an upgrade somewhere else. Barnes and Thompson draw interest as trade chips all over the league, and Barnes hasn't met the organization's high expectations for him this season."

Golden State has Curry, Iguodala and Bogut as building blocks, and if they favor Klay Thompson over Barnes, then he should be traded. But where?

The Bulls would take Barnes, but if Golden State wants Gibson in return, they need to add more assets.
