Kyrie Irving Is All Star Game MVP! Cleveland Superstar Leads East To Steal Victory From Durant, Griffin-led West!

Kyrie Irving is the MVP, at least of the All-Star Game. The award is a big one for the third-year player and for Cleveland, who will probably be quiet at the end of the season.

It has been a tough season for Kyrie Irving. He had to carry an entire team on his young shoulders, as he was asked to fill in the shoes of the best player in the world. It seemed unfair. However, the former Blue Devil knew how to keep himself in the spotlight, and handle the fame.

He is now the star among the Stars. It was key though, that the East should win, (163-155)  as there were already odds on Durant or Griffin as MVP when the West had a big lead. The official stat line from ESPN.com:

"Cavaliers G @KyrieIrving wins 2014 All-Star Game MVP. 31 points, 14-17 FG, 5 rebounds, 14 assists."

Prior to the game, Kyrie reflected on his team's tumultuous season. From Ohio.com:

"We had a great team meeting and got a lot off our chest, things that needed to be said. I think it started a little bit of a change in our locker room."

"Some of us put too much pressure on ourselves, including me. I put the burden all on my shoulders. I feel like once my teammates saw me let everything go and be free, everyone can do that.

"These last five or six games we've seen a change and hopefully we can keep it up."

The All-Star MVP award would be the only thing the Cavs can take home from the All-Star festivities.

His teammate and once rumored adversary, Dion Waiters, lost the Rising Stars MVP to Andre Drummond of the Detroit Pistons in the BBVA Rising Stars Event.

Irving also failed to defend his Footlocker Three Point Shootout title which was taken by Marco Bellinelli of the San Antonio Spurs.

The All-Star MVP is another accolade on Irving's chest, as he also won Rookie of the Year Honors in 2012.
