Rihanna’s “Effectively Bankrupt” Case Ends In Settlement; ‘Diamonds’ Singer Now $10 Million Richer?

Rihanna has settled the "effectively bankrupt" case she filed against her accountant for giving her a string of bad advice where the "Diamonds" singer reportedly got $10 million indemnity.

Page Six reported that Rihanna sued Peter Gounis and Berdon LLP which gave the go signal when she proposed to purchase a $7 million house in Southern California even though the firm knew she was already in the red in 2009.

Edward Estrada, the lawyer of Rihanna (Robyn Fenty in real life) said that the accountants "advised Ms. Fenty by e-mail that purchasing a home in Los Angeles 'would be a good investment' despite knowing Ms. Fenty was experiencing financial difficulties."

The lawyer also insisted that Rihanna's accountant knew the house was dilapidated which forced the "Diamonds" singer to shell out another $1 million for the repairs alone. Eventually Rihanna sold the house due to financial difficulties and lost $2 million as a result.

Rihanna then dropped the firm and sued its execs for $35 million two years ago but according to Page Six, the accountants eventually opted for an out-of-court settlement for $10 million.

The singer also blamed her accountant that her "Last Girl on Earth" tour was bleeding money but failed to warn her about the situation.

But Peter Gounis belied her claims, according to court documents, as he accused her of squandering her money on jewelry and designer clothes.

"At the core of her claim is this belief: someone else is responsible for her conduct and its consequences," Peter Gounis said.

According to Forbes, Rihanna is now worth around $43 million, pending the payment of the $10 million settlement. Her earnings were computed until June 2013 and included 40 shows plus a new album "Unapologetic," which was her seventh studio album in seven years. She also endorses for Gucci, CoverGirl and Clinque as well as acting in movies on the side.
