Upcoming HTC phones 2014: HTC may not be announcing the One successor next week, but it reportedly has other devices, one of which is the midrange phablet, the Desire 8.

If you have been checking out the rumor mill lately, you may have seen this gorgeous-looking handset - a trademark of HTC phones. While it is tipped as a midrange device, its 5.5-inch frame and stylish design certainly look flagship material.

Now, a new report somewhat confirms that the device's screen will have HD (720p) resolution.

In a report by GSM Arena, leaker of everything mobile EV Leaks posted specs for an HTC device known to be the A5.

HTC A5: MSM8928 (1.6GHz x4), 5.5" 720p SuperLCD2, 1.5GB/8GB (+microSD), 13MP/5MP, Sense 6.0, BoomSound, black/white/red/yellow/purple.

As you can see, all these specs are not new for us, because those are what the HTC Desire 8 has been rumored to have according to previous reports. This leads us to believe that the A5 and the Desire 8 is the same HTC device. 

With a 720p resolution, a 5.5-inch phablet still looks fantastic based on our experience, and knowing HTC it will do anything to get the market to notice its devices. 

It is only a few days until the MWC in Barcelona, where we expect the HTC Desire 8 (A5) to make its debut.
