Mobile World Congress 2014 Release Date Schedules: Android Powered Nokia X ‘Normandy’ Expected To Be Unveiled At Barcelona Tech Show; Device Will Run On KitKat

Mobile World Congress 2014 release date schedules: Android-powered Nokia phone, the Nokia X ‘Normandy’, is expected to make its debut at the Mobile World Congress this coming week in Barcelona, Spain. The tech show begins on February 24 with Facebook CEO and founder Mark Zuckerberg as opening ceremony keynote speaker.

According to Droid Report, the Nokia X ‘Normandy’ release date has been confirmed. The Finnish tech giant, the mobile division of which is owned by Microsoft, has a countdown on their site for the time left to the Nokia press conference in Barcelona where they are expected to announce the latest Nokia smartphone. The new handset will run on Android 4.4.2 KitKat.

In terms of specs, the Nokia X ‘Normandy’ is not a flagship type, but rather an entry-level Android smartphone. Droid Report says that the move is wise for Nokia, as it may not be positioned to compete in the flagship Android market. The Nokia X ‘Normandy’ features include a dual-core Snapdragon 200 processor with 1GHz, 512MB memory, 5MP rear camera and a 4-inch 854 x 480 display with 285 ppi. It has an internal storage of 4GB expandable to 32GB more via microSD.

Price tag for the unit is expected to be at $100 and it’s expected to compete with the number of budget-friendly Android devices on the market. It’s notable competitor is the Motorola Moto G which is currently offered at $178. The dirt-cheap Android smartphone will run the latest Android 4.4.2 KitKat with all the performance and software optimizations.

Nokia’s event at the Mobile World Congress last year saw the release of the Nokia Lumia 520, Lumia 720 and the Nokia 301 and 105. The company’s press conference at this year’s Mobile World Congress is on February 24 at 8:30 AM Barcelona time.
