LG G3 Release Date: 4 Things You Need To Know About LG's Upcoming High-End Smartphone, Rumors, Features, All Covered

LG G3 release date:Whenever one looks at the LG G2, he can't help but wonder what LG has in store for the phone's rumored successor - the G3.

The G2 is already a pretty solid device, and in some circles they even pit it against the Samsung Galaxy Note 3 head-to-head. Considering the fact that successors have upgraded specs, we can only expect the G3 to be much more powerful, faster, and feature-packed.

Now, here are four things we think we already know about the upcoming Android handset based on rumors we have been getting over the past few months.

1. Slightly larger display with better resolution

The previous LG flagship features a 5.2-inch display with Full HD (1920 x 1080) resolution. Now, its successor aims to make the battle against other high-end devices more interesting with its bigger 5.5-inch screen, with an even crisper 2K or QHD (2560 x 1440) display.

2. Upgraded camera, still with OIS

While there has not been a lot of rumors about the G3's camera, most speculations point to a 16-megapixel snapper. And because the current G2 has OIS for better-looking images, it would be impractical and counter-productive of LG not to include them in the upcoming LG G3.

3. Rumored Features, fingerprint scanner, eye-sensor, etc.

Previous reports from Korean websites claim that all of LG's upcoming phones this 2014 would have fingerprint scanners, though that obviously wasn't the case when the LG G Pro 2 was announced. Still, there is hope for the fingerprint-sensing feature, which could make its way to the LG G3 instead. An eye or iris scanner has also been rumored though the company immediately dismissed the idea considering how difficult it would be for users to scan their eyes during dim-light conditions.

4. Alleged LG G3 release date

According to a previous report by Phone Arena, a Korean website named Asiae has posted the release date of the LG G3, which is on May 17. While this may be a bit earlier considering the G2 was only launched in September, it could also be a bit late as Samsung, Sony and HTC have all released their new flagships by then. Nevertheless, LG has another flagship device to showcase, the G Pro 2 during the MWC event in Barcelona so the alleged G3 release date is still possible.
