Upcoming Sony Phones 2014: Sony Launches 'Budget Phone' Xperia M2, Packs 4.8" 720p Display, Quad-Core CPU And 1GB RAM

Upcoming Sony phones 2014: It's just the start of the Mobile World Congress 2014 and Sony has already unleashed two of its newest devices.

If you have been checking out rumors for the past months, then you already know that the first Xperia handset is the Z1 successor, and new Sony flagship. Meanwhile, the other lesser known Android phone is dubbed as the Xperia M2, and is supposedly aimed at the mass market with its budget pricing.

Checking the Xperia M2's specs, you would agree that this smartphone is flagship material three years ago. Well, not now.

According to a report by Android Authority, the Android-powered handset boasts a decent 4.8-inch screen with qHD (960 x 540) resolution, a quad-core CPU clocked at 1.2GHz, a Snapdragon 400 chipset, and 1GB of RAM.

The Xperia M2 also has an 8MP primary camera at the back, dual-SIM support, 4G LTE connectivity, and an unknown version of Android, probably 4.3 Jelly Bean or 4.4 KitKat.

While the Xperia M2 is marketed as an entry-level device, we have learned in the past that Sony tends to overprice even its budget phones. So unless the Japanese phone maker is able to bring down the cost to below $200, then it could be a good entry-level option for Android switchers.
