Samsung Galaxy S5 Release Date: Korean Tech Giant Finally Unleashes New Flagship, Packs New Design, Fingerprint Scanner, Heart Rate Monitor, UHD Recording

Samsung Galaxy S5 release date: We've been hearing a lot about Samsung's new flagship phone. A couple of hours ago, the tech giant finally unveiled its Galaxy S5.

In a report  by GSM Arena, the Android-powered high-end phone has arrived at Samsung's Unpacked event during the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona.

While we have seen most of the Galaxy S5's features, Samsung still managed to squeek a few surprises, including an entirely new design, as well as a heart rate monitor. While the concept of being able to measure your heart rate is certainly exciting, we don't know yet whether Samsung would be able to deliver a quality and hassle-free experience.

The 'new' look of the Galaxy S5 may seem off to some, especially with the dotted style of the cover. Samsung may have intended this to provide a better grip for the device, but we know the company could have done better than that.

Aside from the intriguing heart rate monitor and the odd design, the Galaxy S5 features most of the rumored specs we have been hearing about the past few months. One disappointment is the screen, which only has Full HD (1080p) resolution, contrary to previous reports which claim QHD or 2K resolution.

The Samsung flagship packs a 5.1-inch screen with an acceptable 1080p display, a quad-core Snapdragon 800, 2GB of RAM and a 16-megapixel camera that is capable of UHD (3840 x 2160) resolution. The handset also has LTE support and runs on Android 4.4 KitKat out of the box.

The Galaxy S5 will be available in white, black, blue and copper. So is this flagship device worth the wait and upgrade from the Galaxy S4?
