Recent plot spoilers for "Batman Vs Superman" revealed the influence from the recently released DC animated film "Justice League War." The film shows depicts the origin of the Justice League team.

Following the "Justice League War (JLW)" storyline, the version of Green Lantern in the film is not John Stewart, but Hal Jordan. From What Culture:

"In Justice League War the Green Lantern is Hal Jordan (as opposed to John Stewart) and he is the cocky and wise-cracking member of the team.  In the Justice League film expect his character arc to take him from arrogant superhero who is dismissive of those heroes he thinks are beneath him to becoming humble and growing to respect the other members by battling by their side.

That type of character is still pretty close to the one played by Ryan Reynolds in 2011′s disappointing effort but given the right material Reynolds still has the potential to excel in this role. Reynolds himself has said his participation would be dependent on the right script and right director so don't bet against Reynolds lining up next to Ben Affleck and Henry Cavill."

While it is very possible that director Zack Snyder will implement changes to the script, Hal Jordan's role is central to the plot, and it may not be a bad idea. However, with regards to the possibility of Reynolds accepting the role, he has sent mixed signals.

Ryan Reynolds in an interview with Total Film was rather dismissive: "I don't even know if the the studio's going to make that...but it would certainly be a challenge. If they do, I hope it's great. We saw how well Joss Whedon did it with The Avengers, so we'll see."

While he airs the same opinion (and drops the same name) in an Empire Online podcast, we can see him back down a bit: "I don't know. If you're going to do comic book movies in that vein, you really have to get them right and I believe that Joss Whedon is a guy who just nails it, Christopher Nolan obviously nails it, so if they're going to do it like that, it would be interesting to do. It's just, working on Green Lantern I saw how difficult it is to make that concept palatable and how kind of confused it can all be when you don't really know exactly where you're going with it or where you don't know exactly how to access that world. That world that comic book fans have been accessing for decades and falling in love with... So I don't know. At this point I have very little interest in joining that, but as always, a great script and good director could turn that around."

A great script and a good director. We will see how Ryan Reynolds rates Snyder and David S. Goyer by his presence (or lack thereof) in the film.
