Nokia X Price, Release Date: Android-powered Nokia With A Twist Will Be Sold For 89 Euros At 1st Week Of March; Budget Friendly Smartphone Not Coming To U.S., Korea Or Japan

Nokia X price, release date: Android-powered Nokia handset but with a twist. The Nokia X will be sold for 89 euros (est. $121.64) in the first week of March and the company has a specific audience in mind, says CNET.

First-time smartphone users make up Nokia’s target demographic, with 22-year-olds right in the center of it. The device is not coming to countries where high-end smartphones reign, like the U.S., Korea or Japan. The Nokia X will be targeted to Asian countries like China, Thailand, Indonesia, Vietnam, Egypt, India, Pakistan, Russia, Poland, Brazil and Mexico.

The Nokia X will go to head to head with low-cost Blackberry and Nokia’s own line of Windows-powered budget handsets. CNET says that it’s in those markets that the company can best compete against traditional Android handsets.

That Nokia X runs on an Android platform, but with Nokia’s footprint all over it. The Finnish tech giant, whose mobile division is owned by Microsoft, created a hybrid mobile platform that runs on Google’s Android Open Source Project. The Nokia X platform is basically a three-way mashup. Nokia X, CNET says, is not just the name of the device, it’s also the name of what Nokia calls its new Android-based OS.

According to CNET, Nokia X Software Platform uses Android’s open source code as its base, enabling it to run the Android apps that a lot of mobile users want. The tech site also reported that top of an Android 4.1 frame, Nokia painted an interface that pulls from both Asha and Windows Phone OS.

Nokia X was officially launched Monday at the Mobile World Congress together with the Nokia X+ and Nokia XL.
Specs of the Nokia X includes a 4-inch display, 800 x 480 pixel resolution, 1 GHz dual-core Qualcomm Snapdragon processor and Assisted GPS. The device measures 0.39-inch thick and weighs 4.5 ounces. It has a 3MP camera and 4GB internal storage expandable to 32 GB.
