Both teams got their offenses going but Boston lost 5-4 in overtime to the Sabres. The Capitals won their game against the Panthers 5-4.

Boston coach Claude Julien placed blame his team's loss on a poor defensive effort.

"I thought offensively, I didn't mind our game," Julien, whose team holds a six-point lead in the Atlantic Division and is trying to close a five-point gap with Pittsburgh for the No. 1 spot in the Eastern Conference told NHL.com. "You score four goals, you should win those kind of games. But certainly, we were definitely rusty defensively."

The Bruins now begin a stretch of 17 games in 31 days, with six sets of back-to-backs in that span.

"The good news is that we've been through it before, so it's nothing new for us, but we just have to approach it the right way and make sure we get our rest in the right times, and really dig deep in those game situations," Rask said. "It's going to be tough, but as I said, we've been through it before and we have the experience and leadership here to get through it and finish it off on the right note."

If the Capitals can pull off their victory, it would match their season-high winning streak. Adam Oates knows it's not quite what it is because of the Olympic break that nearly stopped the NHL for three weeks.

"It's a little different because of the [Olympic] break," Oates said. "We'd feel a little bit differently if it was three consecutive. But honestly it's always the same thing. You want wins because it makes guys feel good. We want to play good hockey and that's still the most important thing. As teams start to refine their game in the last month you're going to have to play good to win."
