George Lopez Arrested for Public Drunkenness After Crashing on Casino Floor; George Lopez Explains on Twitter He Was Sleeping It Off

George Lopez was arrested for public intoxication after falling asleep on a casino floor. The standup comedian made light of it on Twitter.

On Thursday, comedian and TV actor George Lopez was arrested for public intoxication after he passed out on the floor of a casino at the Caesars Windsor in Canada.

Not one to pass on a chance for a punch line, George Lopez explained in a statement to USA Today, "Tied one on last night. Not feeling great this morning. I was trying to sleep it off, unfortunately, it was on the casino floor."

According to law enforcement authorities, hotel security called the cops and officers arrested Lopez shortly after he passed out inside the casino bar. Windsor police announced that a man was arrested at the casino but later released with no charges laid.

The Windsor Police Service confirmed that officers "received custody of a male from the Ontario Provincial Police Windsor Casino Enforcement Unit. The male was subsequently released with no charges. Due to the fact the male is not being charged with an offense, no further information will be released at this time."

The report said that no charges were filed against Lopez. The comedian was released without charges. George Lopez is scheduled to perform at the Windsor on Friday night. George Lopes is also scheduled to perform two nights at L.A.'s Hollywood Bowl in June.

Lopez's new series "Saint George," premieres March 6 on FX. Lopez will play a successful Mexican American entrepreneur who is dealing with aging. He's hitting the dating sceneafter a divorce from his "all-American" Anglo wife.

FX executives have not made any comments. Representatives for George Lopez could not be reached.

Maybe they're still sleeping it off.
