Windows Phone Market Share: Acer Will Finally Develop A New Windows Phone Handset, Only If It Notches 15% Market Pie In Europe

Windows Phone market share: Last year was Windows Phone's breakout year as it gained more than 100% more sales in its target markets. Now, a tech company announces that it will soon join the WP bandwagon if the platform reaches 15% of all handsets in Europe.

According to a report by several tech media outfits, Acer's VP of Smartphones Allen Burns said in an interview that the company will only begin working on its new Windows Phone handset once the Windows Phone market share in EU reaches 15%.

Currently, that number stands at 10% in the entire region, including markets in Spain, Italy, Germany and the UK.

The last WIndows Phone-powered handset the company released was the Acer Allegro, which was launched more than two years ago. And until now, we are still waiting when the next WP smartphone from Acer will arrive.

Interestingly, other manufacturers have already expressed their interest in the platform, including Sony and Samsung.
