Miller was traded from the Buffalo Sabres on Friday to the St. Louis Blues (39-14-6). Buffalo captain Steve Ott was also involved in the trade to St. Louis in exchange for goalie Jaroslav Halak, forward Chris Stewart, a prospect and draft picks.

"I'm very excited for the opportunity to have a new adventure, a new opportunity," Miller told reporters Friday. "I have a strong sense that they have a special team, that they work hard. I know some of the guys on the team with the USA [Olympic] program, and they have a very strong competitive spirit."

St. Louis captain David Backes, who played with Miller in the past two Winter Olympics, raved about the organization's winning mentality, according to NHL.com.

"The management and ownership is really committed to winning, and winning now, and that's partly shown in the move we've made," Backes said. "Ryan Miller is an all-world goalie that has shown it time and time again."

Just outside of the playoff picture, the Coyotes have little room for error going forward,

"We have to figure out a way to get more points," said forward Shane Doan, who scored twice against the Avalanche to snap a six-game point drought.
