Windows Phone 8.1 Start Screen Can Change Themes, Shows New Leaked Images Of The Platform's Upcoming Update

Windows Phone 8.1: If you own a WP-powered handset and you are getting tired of the non-customizable background themes for the start screen, then this news should sound good to you.

In a recent post by GSM Arena, several leaked screenshots of the new update's start screen appeared on Chinese micro-blogging platform Weibo.

As the images show, Windows Phone 8.1 brings several themes for the start screen background. In the image, it shows two start screens - one with one with 'cobalt' blue and the other with a nice green theme.

Of course, WP phone users can change this theme any time they want, providing more customization for the device.

In recent years, Windows Phone has been bashed for offering almost no options for customization, but it looks like Microsoft has learned its lesson and is now trying to improve a lot of the platform's interface.

While the theme appears to be able to skin most of the mobile platform's apps, some of them such as Office and Xbox Music would still get their default tile color.

So are you excited for the Windows Phone 8.1 update? It will launch next month during Microsoft's Build Conference in April.
