This will be the fourth meeting pitting the Chicago Blackhawks (36-12-4) vs the Colorado Avalanche (39-17-5). The Avs won the first showdown 5-1 back in November, then lost 7-2 in December, but won back in January 3-2 in overtime. The Blackhawks are coming off a 5-1 victory during the Stadium Series in Chicago outdoors where the Bears play. They defeated the Penguins. It was a good start without Marian Hossa, who will be out two to three weeks with an upper-body injury. The winger's 24 goals are third-most on the team, and his 50 points rank fourth, according to NHL.com.

"There's going to be some quality ice time shared amongst the guys," coach Joel Quenneville said after practice Monday. "I thought (Brandon Saad) did a real good job getting put up on that line there as the game progressed the other day so we'll probably put him there and we'll get (Regin) back in the lineup."

Not only does Colorado trail the Blackhawks by only three points with a game in hand, but trail the St. Louis Blues for first place. The Avalanche have won in a row and are 7-3 in their last 10.

"It's a log-jam up there for the division title and we've been talking about [how] we'd love to put a banner up in our arena this year," Colorado forward Matt Duchene said. "It's been a while and we're right there. They're going to have to slip a little bit and we're going to have to play really good hockey for it to happen, but so far we've done that. We've taken care of business in our last two [games], and now it's time to go on the road and take care of business there."
