Kevin Love: New York Knicks Final Hope Rests On Minnesota’s All-Star Player! Tyson Chandler As Trade Bait, Will The T-Wolves Bite?

Kevin Love has had great Madison Square Garden performances that left Knicks fans green with envy. What if he played there 42 times a year?

What if Kevin Love called the storied stadium home? New York hoops fans kept asking this question, and who can blame them. Compared to their power forward Amare Stoudemire, Love is miles away.

The NY Post recounts: "The Knicks got an early taste of Love's potential greatness when he racked up the league's first 30-30 game in 28 years. Love did it in 2010, embarrassing Amar'e Stoudemire, in his first month in a Knick uniform when he was still playing at an All-Star level."

With the next Knick match-up set at Minnesota, Love was inevitably mentioned. Carmelo Anthony responds(from NY Post):  "Where you going with this?''

The press asked for his opinion with regards to Kevin Love's game, since both of them are perceived as 'stretch 4s' to which Anthony clarifies: "I didn't know we had similarities,'' He's a guy who became a stretch 4 but never was a stretch 4. He worked on his shot, his 3-ball and stretching the floor and spreading the floor out. He can also go inside. He's one helluva rebounder. He's a big load. He's gotten better every year since been in the league and still is.'' Great assessment by Melo!

An exasperated Kevin Love was bothered with that question early in the season during the T-Wolves visit to the Big Apple: "If I say that I like Charlotte or 'Charlotte is a great city, I love spending time there,' then all of a sudden I'm going to Charlotte. Anything I say is going to be a misconception or be some sort of a headline. It's silly.

Sure [free agency] is brought up. It crosses my mind. In a way, I just try to put that aside. It's a question that's always going to be brought up. Really, I would love not to talk about it and focus on winning now with the Timberwolves."

Even after the trade deadline, the Love talks continue. For the Knicks, the main trade bait would be built around center Tyson Chandler. Chandler is a 13 year veteran, and he might not want to stick around for a rebuilding effort. He also brushes off the speculation, though. Chandler spoke to the Post as well: "That's something I have to visit during the offseason. I think we all have a lot of decisions to make."

The T-Wolves will get better offers, but the key would be Kevin Love himself. Most teams would hesitate to give up quality assets if they know that Love would not sign an extension with them. That's an assurance only the All-Star forward can give.
