LG G2 vs. Nexus 5: Specs Of Android-powered Smartphones Similar Under The Hood, But Gives Different User Experience In OS; Which LG-made Handset Would You Choose?

LG G2 vs. Nexus 5: Specs of these two Android flagships, the LG G2 and the Nexus 5 are very similar under the hood. Both are made by LG, the Nexus 5 was a special edition made for Google by the South Korean tech giant.

Specs of the units under the hood are pretty much the same, but both gives very, very different user experience because of the difference in the unit. The Nexus 5 bears the stock Android 4.4.2 KitKat while the LG G2 has a customized version of the Google OS.

Price Point, First Impression Look & Casing: The Nexus 5 has a very affordable price point (at $350) and comes off as ordinary and almost bland in its built. The LG G2, priced at $500, has a more premium design and flasher look. Both are made of plastics, the Nexus 5 has a soft-touch matte finish while the LG G2 has a gloss finish.

Dimensions: The LG G2’s dimensions are 138.5 x 70.9 x 8.9 mm and weighs 143 grams. The Nexus 5’s dimensions is at 137.84 x 69.17 x 8.59 mm and weighs 130 grams. This makes the Nexus 5 a tad bit lighter than the LG G2. The LG flagship is bigger in size than the Google flagship.

Display: Image quality on both the LG G2 and Nexus 5 is impressive. Both units produce images that has vivid colors and contrast. Brightness and clarity on the displays are both of the highest quality and seemingly excellent.

The Nexus 5 has a 5-inch full HD IPS + LCD display with 1920 x 1080 pixels and a pixel density of 455. The LG G2 has a 5.2-inch full HD IPS + LCD display with 1920 x 1080 pixels and a density of 424.

Battery Life: The LG G2’s edges out the Nexus 5 in this regard. The unit has 3,000 mAh battery pack while the Nexus 5 has a 2,300 mAh battery. Both the LG G2 and Nexus 5’s battery cannot be removed.

Talk time for the Nexus 5 is at 17 hours, while the LG G2 has a talk time of up to 26.5 hours, depending on the variant being tested.

Processor & Performance: Both the LG G2 and Nexus 5 has a Snapdragon 800 chipset, which is a quad-core processor that clocks in at 2.26 GHz. It’s powered with 2 GB of RAM and an Adreno 330 GPU. Processing speed is fast for both units, enabling a seamless operation of UI elements. It’s also capable of multitasking and 3D gaming.

Camera: In what seems to be a popular differentiator for smartphones. The Nexus 5’s camera has 8MP and features 1080P video recording, LED flash and optical image stabilization. The LG G2 has a13MP shooter as well as LED flash and optical image stabilization. In terms of picture quality, the LG G2 delivers more attractive images.
