Before there was Mary Jane Watson, there was Gwen Stacy. Emma Stone has played the part to perfection, and it has been difficult to accept her impending demise as the storyline the movie is following leads to “The Death Of Gwen Stacy.”
In the latest teaser, the focus falls on Emma Stone and her character Gwen Stacy. The love aspect is yet another reason to watch the Spider Man sequel. The teaser offers a lot of romantic moments but it also reveals some hints.
The Daily Mail Online shared the video which has some familiar images which the comic book fans will easily recognize. From Screenrant:
“Those who are familiar with the way the Gwen Stacy/Peter Parker romance played out in the comics might think that they know what’s coming, especially given the fact that Gwen wears a pretty iconic outfit in The Amazing Spider-Man 2 and is present for a showdown between Spider-Man and Green Goblin, but there’s no guarantee that things will play out the same way in the movie version.
What’s interesting about the dilemma facing Peter and Gwen is that it’s not a problem exclusive to superheroes. Plenty of young sweethearts have to make hard decisions about whether to sacrifice love in favor of following their dreams. Of course, not everyone has the luxury of being able to write “I LOVE YOU” in huge letters on a bridge as a romantic gesture.”
Will the breakup be the movie’s ticket out of the gloomy end of Peter and Gwen? The portrayal of Gwen Stacy as a strong and independent woman is something audiences all around the world are yearning for. The ‘damsel in distress’ seems outdated and the real-life chemistry between Andrew Garfield and Emma Stone may be too much to pass on.
