Adam Lambert, Queen Tour 2014: American Idol Winner Just the Diva to Fill Freddy Mercury’s Shoes (TOUR DATES)

Adam Lambert, Queen Tour 2014: Adam Lambert and Queen are getting ready to hit the U.S. Queen and the American Idol winner announced that they will hit the road for a 19-date North American tour. The Adam Lambert Queen tour kicks off at Chicago's United Center on June 19.

The Queen tour with Adam Lambert will hit The Forum in Los Angeles and Madison Square Garden in New York City. Original members Brian May and Roger Taylor joined Adam Lambert to announce the tour at a news conference yesterday.

Last September, Adam Lambert and Queen got rave reviews when they played the iHeartRadio Music Festival in Las Vegas. The only time the Lambert-fronted Queen has played a U.S. concert. Adam, Roger Taylor and Brian May talked about taking the show on the road.

Rolling Stone said, "Lambert astounded the audience on songs like 'We Will Rock You' and the closing 'We Are The Champions' and 'Crazy Little Thing Called Love'. It was the most anticipated act of the night."

Billboard wrote, "Queen effectively stole the show, with timeless songs that music fans of all genres can sing along to."

The Hollywood Reporter gushed, "Adam Lambert, Queen bring down the iHeart house. With the perfect mix of rock attitude mixed with style, theatricality, sex appeal and impressive vocal gymnastics, [Lambert] took the band's music to new heights."

Adam Lambert told the AP, "You just can't focus on that crap, especially in today's day and age, the Internet, and everybody has an opinion and a comment. That's not why we do this."

Adam Lambert and Queen first performed together on American Idol in 2009. They reunited for the MTV EMAs in 2011. They followed that up with a string of overseas dates in 2012.

Lambert said "I'm completely in awe of the Queen phenomenon. The thought of sharing the stage for a full set in North America is so beautifully surreal. I'm honored to be able to pay my respects to Freddie's memory; he's a personal hero of mine, and I am deeply grateful for the chance to sing such powerful music for fans of this legendary band. I know this tour will be a huge milestone for me, and with the support of Brian, Roger and the rest of the band, I feel like magic will be on display."

Brian May said "'American Idol' is a long way in the past for Adam now. He's a solo artist and well-established. And also we are established as a partnership ... if you concentrate on the negative you're not going to get anywhere. It's very important to have focus, and you play to people who want to hear us."

May continued "I was surprised that there was a little bit more in the can that we had overlooked for a long time, so we have a few songs which we're working on right now. Freddie songs as fresh as yesterday. It's really amazing. We're all playing together, and I think people will enjoy it.

Founding Queen singer Freddy Mercury died 23 years ago. Queen was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2001.

May said "It's been a constant reminder to people of our music, especially younger fans making us cross generational. And 'We Will Rock You: The Musical' has played a big part in that."

Tickets for the Adam Lambert Queen tour will go be on sale on Friday, March 14. Tickets can be bought through the Live Nation mobile app and at Livenation.com. Starting March 10 in America and March 11 in Canada, American Express Card Members can score tickets before the general public.
