Doctor Who Season 8 Spoilers: Episode 4 And 5 Writers Confirmed As Mark Gatiss Talks 'Game-Changing' Peter Capaldi After Matt Smith Exit!

As "Doctor Who" season 8 continues filming, spoilers regarding the writers as well as the cast have surfaced.

First, spoilers confirm that the writers for "Doctor Who" season 8 episode 4 and 5 will be Steve Thompson and executive producer Steven Moffat himself, respectively.

Thompson has written two episodes for "Doctor Who" before, season 6's "The Curse of the Black Spot" and "Journey to the Centre of the TARDIS" in season 7.

Both episodes, according to spoilers, will be directed by Douglas Mackinnon.

There is some controversy surrounding the return of Thompson as both his episodes have received lukewarm reception.

Meanwhile, in an interview with Digital Spy, Mark Gatiss promises that Peter Capaldi will change the landscape of "Doctor Who" in season 8 with "a whole new set of rules."

“The Doctor’s always the Doctor – but you can have a lot of fun playing with people’s expectations. Everyone knows how the previous Doctor would react in any given situation – and now you just don’t know!”

Gatiss also remarked on Peter Capaldi taking over the role of the Doctor from Matt Smith.

“Peter has a very different energy to Matt Smith and to David Tennant. He’s older which changes everything – it’s amazing what a change does! Matt was sublime and I was very sorry to see him go, but it’s also great to have a change – as it has always been with the Doctor.”
