Red Rising Trilogy movie adaptation is set to be directed by World War Z director Marc Forster under Universal Pictures, which emerged as the winning bidder over Sony Pictures for the screen rights to Pierce Brown's sci-fi action thriller novel. The deal is in reportedly seven figures.

The novel is set on Mars, following the humans colonization due to the impending death of planet Earth. It takes on the story of Darrow a "Helldiver." He is a Red, the lowest member of society, born to toil in the bowels of the planet in service to the sovereign Golds.

The Red Rising Trilogy movie is expected to deliver an action thriller film, which will bring director Marc Forster back to the chaotic terrain that of World War Z that grossed $540 million worldwide becoming the biggest in Brad Pitt's career.

However, due to the disagreements between World War Z director Marc Forster and its star Brad Pitt, he will not be returning to helm the sequel of the surprising box office hit movie.

The Red Rising Trilogy is being compared to "The Hunger Games," which tackles social status and political conspiracies and dynasties. It somehow resembles a hint of Elysium with a little bit of Total Recall likeness due to the Mars setting
