Adam Lambert, Queen Tour 2014: Tie Your Mother Down, Queen And The American Idol Winner Will Rock You Like Its Queen's Golden Days

Adam Lambert, Queen Tour 2014: Queen will tour North America this summer with Adam Lambert, the British group's first U.S. tour in eight years.

The remaining members of legendary British rock act Queen Brian May and drummer Roger Taylor and Adam Lambert will to hit the U.S. and Canada. Freddie Mercury died in 1991.

The American Idol winner and original Queen members Brian May and Roger Taylor announced the tour at a news conference over the weekend. They will hit the road for a 19-date North American tour.

Queen guitarist Brian May says "This is the closest that you'll ever get to see Queen as it was in our golden days, but it's not a reproduction."

The Adam Lambert Queen tour kicks off at Chicago's United Center on June 19.

The Queen tour with Adam Lambert will hit The Forum in Los Angeles and Madison Square Garden in New York City. Adam Lambert and Queen will rock Dallas in July during U.S. arena tour

Last September, Adam Lambert and Queen got rave reviews when they played the iHeartRadio Music Festival in Las Vegas. The only time the Lambert-fronted Queen has played a U.S. concert. Adam, Roger Taylor and Brian May talked about taking the show on the road. Queen and Adam Lambert will perform at Dallas' American Airlines Center on July 10.

Adam Lambert and Queen first performed together on American Idol in 2009. They reunited for the MTV EMAs in 2011. They followed that up with a string of overseas dates in 2012.

Lambert said "I'm completely in awe of the Queen phenomenon. The thought of sharing the stage for a full set in North America is so beautifully surreal. I'm honored to be able to pay my respects to Freddie's memory; he's a personal hero of mine, and I am deeply grateful for the chance to sing such powerful music for fans of this legendary band. I know this tour will be a huge milestone for me, and with the support of Brian, Roger and the rest of the band, I feel like magic will be on display."

Brian May said "'American Idol' is a long way in the past for Adam now. He's a solo artist and well-established. And also we are established as a partnership ... if you concentrate on the negative you're not going to get anywhere. It's very important to have focus, and you play to people who want to hear us."
May continued "I was surprised that there was a little bit more in the can that we had overlooked for a long time, so we have a few songs which we're working on right now. Freddie songs as fresh as yesterday. It's really amazing. We're all playing together, and I think people will enjoy it.

Founding Queen singer Freddy Mercury died 23 years ago. Queen was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2001.

May said "It's been a constant reminder to people of our music, especially younger fans making us cross generational. And 'We Will Rock You: The Musical' has played a big part in that."

Tickets for the Adam Lambert Queen tour will go be on sale on Friday, March 14. Tickets can be bought through the Live Nation mobile app and at Livenation.com. Starting March 10 in America and March 11 in Canada, American Express Card Members can score tickets before the general public.
