‘Luke Cage’ Series Cast Rumors: Terry Crews For The Lead Role? 'Anything Can Happen And I'm Game!'

Luke Cage aka Power Man is one of Marvel's cult characters. Long rumored to showcase the big screen, Cage will be featured in one of the Marvel/Netflix series.

When it was still part of the rumor mill for upcoming movies, comic book fans have strongly suggested that the lead role be given to Terry Crews.

Crews was a former NFL star who has since become one of the best actors in  action and comedy. He was recently seen in "The Expendables" movies and was a very obvious choice for "Brooklyn Nine-Nine," an action-comedy TV series from Fox which recently won the Golden Globe for Best Television Series, Musical or Comedy.

Crews is still under contract with the show which is why there were doubts on whether he could still sign on for "Luke Cage." Collider has compiled all of Crews' quotes regarding the possibility of playing the Hero For Hire:

"Anything can happen.  All I know is scheduling and all that stuff-anything can happen.  I'm open to all kinds of things, but who knows?  Actually I took myself out of the Luke Cage running a while back, just because it was people trying to put people against each other.  [It was] Idris vs. Michael Jai and I'm like, 'Wait a minute, this is not even greenlit!  Can we talk to Marvel?  Why are you talking to me? Don't put me against my homeboy for a movie that's not existing.'  I said, 'Take me out!'"

It's true, he did take himself out of the rumored candidates. But he has a change of heart now that it's a real project:

"I heard [it's greenlit] but I haven't gotten any calls.  I've been hearing stuff like, 'oh you're too old,' and I'm like, 'Man do my workout 20 years ago and we'll talk about who's too old (laughs).'"

"Like I said, anything can happen, I never rule anything out.  I'm game.  There are no rules.  What's up, Marvel?  I'm right here, baby.  I ain't goin nowhere. You know where I live!"

Marvel will shoot the first series, Daredevil, in the summer of 2014. From Screenrant: "Drew Goddard - a former writer/producer on the TV shows "Alias" and "Lost" and the co-writer/director of "The Cabin in the Woods" having been recruited to serve as the head show-runner." Luke Cage is presumed to be third in line. Marvel can still take its time on whether they should finally take on Crews' offer.
