Pittsburgh struck first, scoring 46 seconds into the game. Chris Kunitz scored his 30th goal of the season. The Capitals tied it up a few minutes later, but 49 seconds after that, Sidney Crosby scored his 30th goal of the game. Washington would tie it up in the second, but a few minutes later, allow the Pens to score their third, which was the difference-maker in the game. They are now 3-0 against the Caps this season.

"You can't get down this time of the season," Capitals forward Eric Fehr told NHL.com. "You've got to stay positive and keep moving forward."

Of course the Penguins coaching staff saw the game from a different light.

"It was a very good game. All aspects," coach Dan Bylsma said while understating Crosby's performance. "We saw the speed (Crosby's line can) generate, and got the scoring chances," he added. "Used him in defensive situations, and (he) did a great job there on the penalty kill in the third."

Evgeny Kuznetsov is expected to play his second game after playing 10 minutes in his NHL debut last night. The 21-year-old forward, signed to an entry-level contract Saturday, was Washington's first-round draft pick in 2010 and has played five seasons in the KHL.

"We have to be patient and be realistic about expectations, because it's a foreign league for him. It's a foreign system. He's never played this way," coach Adam Oates said. "He's never played in front of this many people, really. So for me, I want to ease him in."
