Fantastic Four Reboot Cast Rumors: Doctor Doom Rumored Shortlist Includes Sam Riley, Eddie Redmayne, Domnhall Gleason; All Are Young And Have Accents

The 'Fantastic Four' Reboot cast is starting to fill up. After the team has been completed, the next step is to cast the antagonist.

The shortlist shows that Josh Trank is not veering away from the age group of his selections. The rumored actors are all around 30-34 years old, white, and they also have the most recent trendy requirement for villains in comic books: an accent.

The shortlist was revealed by Jeff Sneider from The Wrap in a video. Screenrant provides the transcript:

"The scoop comes from The Wrap's Jeff Sneider, who reports he's learned from a reliable source that Trank's shortlist is comprised of Sam Riley (On The Road), Eddie Redmayne (Les Miserables), Toby Kebbell (Rocknrolla), and Domnhall Gleason (Harry Potter)."

Upon further observation of the four candidates, Screenrant proceeds with its findings: "Three of them - Riley, Redmayne, and Kebbel - come from England while Gleason is Irish, and that means they each have Hollywood's number one prerequisite for any villain: an accent. Plus, each of them has this morose, melancholy look about them, Riley more so than the others, that would serve them well as the brooding Dr. Doom."

The Fantastic Four did not make an effort to cast an established superstar. They chose young, rising actors for the roles. This seems to be a trend in the comic book movies as X-Men recently introduced the "First Class" to eventually replace the old set of actors, and "The Amazing Spider Man" getting a total reboot and setting the story from the time Peter Parker was still in high school.

This is obviously a ploy to attract a whole new generation of fans. For the Fantastic Four, though, they want to disassociate themselves from the two FF movies that were released in 2005-2007.

The four young actors are set to appear in other movies. Riley is in "Maleficient" while Redmayne is in "Jupiter Ascending." Gleason was the lead alongside Rachel McAdams in "About Time" and Kebbel is a part of "Dawn Of the Planet of the Apes."

Fox has yet to confirm these casting rumors, and will release the film in June 2015.
