Free Games For Xbox Live Gold Members: Download Civilization Revolution For 0 Microsoft Point Until March 15; ‘Games With Gold’ Promotion

"Civilization Revolution" is the first of the two free games for Xbox Live Gold members available this March.

According to a post on Tehran Chronicle, Civilization Revolution is "the 2008 iteration of Civilization" designed by Sid Meier and developed by Firaxis Games. Describing the game, the post reads, "Civilization Revolution is the strategy based game which allows players to take charge of notable historical civilization and lead them to word dominations."

Available on Xbox 360, this free game for Xbox Live Gold members can only be downloaded without any cost at all until March 15.

On the 16th of the month, Civilization Revolution will be replaced by the second free game for Xbox Live Gold members, which is "Dungeon Defenders." As described on its Wikipedia page, Dungeon Defenders is a "multiplayer video game developed by Trendy Entertainment that combines the genres of tower defense and action RPG."

Based on a showcase of the Unreal Engine called Dungeon Defense,  the "game takes place in a fantasy setting where players control the young apprentices of wizards and warriors and defend against hordes of monsters."

The free games for Xbox Live Gold members are under Microsoft's program called Games With Gold. Basically, it offers two free games for Xbox Live Gold members every month, the first one arriving on the 1st day of the month, and the second one releasing on the 16th.

On a recent report from Polygon, the vice president of Microsoft discussed the company's Games With Gold service for Xbox Live Gold subscribers. He shared:

I have been sitting down, monthly now, with [the Games Gone Gold team]... and playing a more active role in picking franchises that show up in Games with Gold, and I think you'll see at least something that feels, at least, more true to what I think Games with Gold should look like with the constraints that are there.

Addressing the comparisons made with Games With Gold to similar program, particularly Sony's PlayStation Plus, Spencer told, "One of our... differences between the other system we get compared to, is the fact that with Games with Gold, you get to keep that game, regardless of whether you continue to subscribe. I think there's some steps and some evolution of what Games with Gold or any of the other systems will go through to their full potential."
