In last season’s Kill House episode, Marty Deeks (Eric Christian Olsen) received a birthday package which he never opened even after the finale. The box was a gift from Kesni (Daniela Ruah) and it sat in the background throughout the whole season. When fans clamored for answer on questions about the role of the box in the partner’s lives, show creators only have this as an answer.

"I can tell you that later in the season, [Deeks] takes the box down and puts it on his desk and stands over it and he may or may not open it," said series creator Chane Brennan, according to TV Fanatic.

Olsen was also mum about it.

"[Viewers are] going to have to wait," Olsen said when asked if the box would be opened early in the season. "I think it's gonna be this season. We'll find out what's in the box."

As promised, the crime drama will address the mystery on surrounding the box. In a feed picked up by Enstarz, it wrote that:

“Nearly a season and a half after it was introduced, it looks like the box will be picked up once more in episode 21, "Three Hearts." Penned by Dave Kalstein ("Kill House," "The Frozen Lake") and Kyle Harimoto ("Merry Evasion," "Omni"), the episode has been called a "game changer' and will be signal Kesni's second episode back in the states.”

Executive producer John Peter Kousakis also teased fans through his Twitter account.

Aside from the box, another angle to watch out for is Eric Beale who will become a star witness because of his addiction in video games.
