The Wanted Breakup: Jay McGuiness Hints Reunion Unlikely If Solo Careers Take Off! Split Caused By Hectic Work Load?

The Wanted breakup might become permanent: Jay McGuiness hinted that their reunion may hinge upon whether or not their respective solo careers take off.

Jay McGuiness told UK's Metro that it wouldn't be fair of them to promise fans the possibility of a reunion when they themselves don't know if that will happen.

"We can't really promise anything. Basically, after four to five years, the idea of finishing the tour and then straight away going into another album cycle just wasn't something the five of us were happy with. So we decided on a hiatus," he said of The Wanted's breakup.

Jay McGuiness also referenced the case of Cheryl Cole when she launched a solo career when her band, Girls Aloud, went on hiatus in April 2009. Her debut album "3 Words" went on to spend two weeks on number one on the album charts.

"If it doesn't feel appropriate to come back and someone does an absolute Cheryl Cole and is like, 'Screw you guys, I'm still doing brilliant,' then that's totally natural," Jay McGuiness added.

He also hinted toDigital Spy that their busy schedules were instrumental in The Wanted breakup.

"I think in 'The Hobbit' they say it's like being butter spread over too much bread, and it's like, 'OK, I can feel that metaphor happening right now.' I think now it's time to be smaller bread," Jay McGuiness said.

The Wanted performed at SSE Hydro Arena in Glasgow Sunday for their Word of Mouth tour. They will also visit Europe, the UK, Canada and the US in what could be their last swan song before making The Wanted breakup permanent.

The interview by Jay McGuiness only confirmed what fellow band member Max George has said about The Wanted breakup to Sun earlier that there was a lot of tension between the boys and that their "personal lives drove us apart."
