Windows Phone Market Share Takes A Bite Off Apple's Share In Romania, Now Has 10 Percent Of The Market, Second Overall In EU Country

Windows Phone market share: Microsoft should be able to tap itself on the back with the recent successes its mobile platform has achived over the past year.

From being far third in the mobile OS competition, the Windows Phone marke share is now at close third overall, and in some countries, it even does a better job.

According to a report by GSM Arena, Romanian newspaper ZF.ro reports that Microsoft's platform has managed to get past Apple's iOS in the country.

Research firm GfK says that Windows Phone now holds 10 percent of the entire market share in Romania. While that number surely does not sound much, it will surely do if you consider that it outsold iPhones in the EU country.

While Android remains the mobile OS to beat, and iOS continues to offer tons of features to the premium mobile market, Windows Phone is slowly gaining traction with the quality releases of its manufacturer partners.

Nokia has been producing lots of great smartphones lately, and other brands such as Samsung and Sony are reportedly negotiating with Microsoft to be able to produce Windows Phone-powered smartphones.

If this growth and interest in Windows Phone continue to rise, the mobile platform may not just get 10% of the entire market share in Europe this year.
