Rolling Stones Postpone Tour After Death of L’Wren Scott; Mick Jagger Opens Up About Girlfriend L'Wren Scott's Suicide

Mick Jagger of the Rolling Stones wrote a very personal note about the suicide of his long-time girlfriend L'Wren Scott.


L'Wren Scott, celebrated fashion designer and girlfriend to Mick Jagger, was found hanged to death in an apparent suicide in her Manhattan apartment Monday. 
Mick Jagger mourned L'Wren Scott in a note on Facebook, writing "I am still trying to understand." 


Mick Jagger wrote the note one day after his girlfriend, fashion designer L'Wren Scott, was found dead of an apparent suicide.


Alongside a photo of Scott, Jagger wrote "I am still struggling to understand how my lover and best friend could end her life in this tragic way. We spent many wonderful years together and had made a great life for ourselves.She had great presence and her talent was much admired, not least by me. I have been touched by the tributes that people have paid to her, and also the personal messages of support that I have received. I will never forget her." 


The Rolling Stones cancelled their tour of Australia and New Zealand. In a statement the band said: "The Rolling Stones are deeply sorry and disappointed to announce the postponement of the rest of their 14 On Fire tour of Australia and New Zealand following the death of L'Wren Scott." The rescheduled shows will be announced at a later date.

L'Wren Scott was a darling designer for such stars as Oprah Winfrey, Nicole Kidman and Michelle Obama. L'Wren Scott helped design Angelina Jolie's wedding dress. Scott dressed Amy Adams, Christina Hendricks and Penelope Cruz for the red carpet.


L'Wren has been going with Rolling Stones singer Mick Jagger since 2001. They couple met in 2001 on a photo shoot. L'Wren was the stylist on call. L'Wren is 23 years younger than Mick and seven inches taller. 


In 2011, she told The Telegraph "I had to learn to sew when I was growing up, because nothing else fitted me."


She and Mick have been dating for more than a decade. They were last seen together publicly in November when L'Wren launched a fashion line in L.A. 
Scott first broke into the fashion industry as a stylist she became a hit with celebrities with her own line in 2006. L'Wren Scott was adopted and raised in Roy, Utah by Mormon parents. Her name was Luann Bambrough. At 17 she changed it to L'Wren when she launched her modelling.  She graduated high school in 1985. She credited her work ethic to her traditional upbringing. L'Wren's father worked in insurance. Her mother worked at a local bank. L'Wren moved to Paris to pursue modeling career.


She moved to California in in the 1990s and became a stylist for photographer Herb Ritts and Karl Lagerfeld. She style such celebrities including Madonna, Julia Roberts and Tom Hanks.


Vogue Editor-in-Chief Anna Wintour remembered Scott as "kind" and "so much fun."  A spokesperson for Nicole Kidman said the actress was "heartbroken and in shock."
