Upcoming Android Phones 2014: Cheapest Octa-Core Smartphone Announced, Xiaomi Redmi Note Specs Include 5.5" Display, 2GB RAM, 13MP Snapper, Dual-SIM Support

Upcoming Android phones 2014: Several days ago, we heard reports that the upcoming Xiaomi phone will boast an octa-core chipset and will be offered on a cheap price tag. It turns out both those rumors are true.

According to a report by GSM Arena, the Chinese manufacturer has recently launched the Xiaomi Redmi Note at only $130.

But is this smartphone worth the money? Or its specs do not even stand up against the decent midrangers in the market?

Again, it turns out that the Xiaomi Redmi Note is certainly capable of taking on even the meanest of the flagships from other brands. And as far as pricing is concerned, it will certainly win by landslide.

The upcoming Android phone boasts a whopping 5.5-inch IPS screen with HD (1280 x 720) resolution, an octa-core MediaTek MT6592 chipset clocked at either 1.7GHz or 1.4GHz. Also on board is 2GB of RAM, 8GB of internal memory, and a microSD card slot.

On the photography side, the Xiaomi Redmi Note also packs decent specs. It has a 13MP shooter at the back and a more than enough 5-megapixel front-facing cam.

On the design side, the Redmi Note comes in several color options. The Android phone costs CNY799 or $130 for the 1.4GHz version and a little higher at CNY999 or $160 for the 1.7GHz variant.

The Xiaomi device will officially be available in China on March 26.
