Amazon Kindle Phone: Upcoming Smartphone Rumored To Boast 6 Cameras For Gesture Control, 4.7" Display, Snapdragon 801, 13MP Primary Shooter, To Launch In 3-6 Months

Amazon Kindle phone: For some time now, Amazon is rumored to be working on its first ever Kindle phone. This rumor comes after studies show that Amazon accounts for more than 10 percent of the mobile market for Android devices.

However, in a recent report by BGR, it appears that Amazon has grander things in mind than just launching its first Android-powered smartphone.

Respected analyst and Ming-Chi Kuo from KGI Securities recently sent a note to investors shedding light to some details surrounding the Amazon Kindle phone.

"We predict Amazon (US) will launch its own brand smartphone in 3-6 months, using the same hardware strategy as used for its e-reader and tablet," Kuo said.

"The supply chain will start stocking up materials in 2Q14 for production. We estimate required components will amount to 700k-1.2mn units, and assembly to 300-600k units. Related suppliers will start to see benefits in 2Q14," the analyst said in a note on Thursday.

However, what's certainly more ground-breaking details about the Amazon Kinde phone is its alleged six cameras. Yes, six!

The highest number of cameras in a smartphone is three (dual cameras at the back and one in front), and that phone has not even been made official.

In the report, the analyst, as well as some of BGR's own sources point to the multi-camera feature to enable the device to support gesture control. Sure it would bring new flavor to smartphone usage, but would it function well, if these cameras do get installed on the unannounced device?

Other rumored specs of the device include a 4.7-inch screen, a Snapdragon 801 chipset, a 13MP primary camera, and a 2,000 to 2,400mAh battery.

The Kindle phone is rumored to be launched in the next 3 to 6 months.
