"The Mentalist" season 6 is saying goodbye to Grace Van Pelt and Wayne Rigsby as the pair perform their swan song during the "White as the Driven Snow" episode aired Sunday. The fan favorite couple also left on a good note as they were not killed off the show, despite months of speculation.

Their departure wasn't exactly a surprise as both Amanda Righetti and Owain Yeoman both announced in previous interviews that the characters they are playing, special agents Amanda Righetti and Owain Yeoman, will be leaving "The Mentalist" season 6 for good.

Although there were some few close calls, both Grace Van Pelt and Wayne Rigsby "both made it out of the hour alive ... and happy!" E! News reported.

In the latest episode of "The Mentalist" season 6, Wayne Rigsby worked with former colleague Patrick Jane (Simon Baker) to rescue Grace Van Pelt from Richard Haibach, played by William Mapother, one of the bogus Red John suspects who was hunting down former agents of the California Bureau of Investigation.

The rescue attempt did not come without a cost, however, as Wayne Rigsby was injured. The FBI was so impressed with his work that Wayne Rigsby was offered a full-time position.

The fan favorite couple, however, turned down the offer because they want to leave behind the dangerous life of law enforcement.

"It's a very dynamic episode. I think our show pushed the envelope," Owain Yeoman said in an interview with TV Guide, as he shared that filming their swan song episode for "The Mentalist" season 6 was "exciting" for both him and Amanda Righetti.

After leaving "The Mentalist" season 6, Amanda Righetti will next be seen playing a paediatrician in "Chicago Fire" and "Chicago P.D."

"Chicago P.D." is a television drama that's a spin-off of the highly successful NBC series "Chicago Fire," which is a series about Chicago firefighters.
