While promoting "Transcendence" in Beijing on Monday, the 50-year-old actor was asked by a reporter about the diamond ring he was wearing, ABC News reports.

"Can I take that as confirmation of your engagement?" the journalist asked.

"You can take that anyway you like, absolutely," Depp replied. "The fact that I'm wearing a chick's ring on my finger is probably a dead giveaway. Not very subtle."

We're still not sure why Johnny was wearing a woman's diamond engagement ring - maybe he stole it from Amber Heard for the night!

Before Johnny Depp got engaged to Amber Heard, the "Mordecai" actor revealed his feelings towards marriage, and how he thinks weddings are unnecessary in relationships.

According to Us Weekly, Depp explained to Extra in 2010 why he never married his ex-girlfriend of 14 years, Vanessa Paradis, the mother of his children Lily-Rose, 14, and Jack, 11.

"I never found myself needing that piece of paper," he shared. "Marriage is really from soul to soul, heart to heart. You don't need somebody to say, okay you're married."

However, Johnny Depp did add at the time: "If Vanessa wanted to get hitched, why not," he said. "But the thing is, I'd be so scared of ruining her last name. She's got such a good last name."

Maybe Amber Heard, 27, finally convinced Johnny it would be a good idea to tie the knot!

"Of course they couldn't be happier to be engaged and excited to share the rest of their lives together," a source told People magazine.

Depp has been married once before to Lori Anne Allison from 1983 to 1985. He's also previously been engaged to actresses Jennifer Grey, Sherilyn Fenn, and Winona Ryder.

Depp and Amber got engaged in January, after dating for almost two years but it has not been publicly confirmed by the actor until now.
