'Prometheus 2' might be out on hold and its filming might have to wait for a while as Microsoft announced that it hammered a deal for Ridley Scott to executive produce a digital feature film based on the extremely popular game "Halo."

The production company of Ridley Scott, who was confirmed to be filming "Prometheus 2," will tackle the world of "Halo," which will be directed by Sergio Mimica-Gezzan who also helmed the TV series, "Battlestar Galactica," according to The Wrap.

"Halo" will be written by Paul Scheuring, who also created "Prison Break," and is projected to be released before the end of the year, the website added.

The story will follow the story of a "surgically enhanced" super soldier in the 26th Century but it will not be Master Chief. It could also follow the same format of "Halo 4: Forward Unto Dawn."

Earlier, it was reported that Sigourney Weaver is coming in board "Prometheus 2" supposedly as a clone of herself even before she played a clone hybrid of herself and an alien in "Alien Resurrection."

"Prometheus 2" is believed to be the prequel of what transpired in the original "Alien" and Fangoria reported that the new Ridley Scott film will reunite some of the characters fans have come to like in the "Alien" franchise.

Fangoria "has learned that Weaver will once again be playing a clone of her Ripley character, and that time travel will be essential to the plot" of "Prometheus 2." "Other actors from the franchise may return as well in some capacity."
