‘X-Men Apocalypse' Cast Rumors: Jean Grey, Cyclops To Return In The Sequel Dubbed As 'The Biggest, Most Expensive Mutant Movie Ever!'

It's only two weeks before "X-Men: Days of  Future Past" is shown in theaters but it is already the most anticipated mutant movie. By far, it is also the biggest in scope and cast.

But that record is bound to be short-lived. Writer-producer Simon Kinberg has already mentioned that the next movie, "X-Men: Apocalypse" will take it to a whole new level. He talked with Super Hero Hype:

"We want to tell the Apocalypse story and there's massive scale and scope to telling that story. There's going to be set pieces that I suspect are going to be bigger than anything we've ever done in an X-Men movie before and he's a great character. The biggest and funnest challenge of the Apocalypse movie to me is his character. How do you create a new villain for the X-Men world that is as good as any villain that's come before, is compelling philosophically as Magneto, not just in his physical powers, but in his philosophical depth. 'Apocalypse' is going to be a fun movie to write and make."

"X-Men: DOFP" already has a stellar cast that combines both the "X-Men: First Class" group and the remnants of the X-Men trilogy. It also features the 'full circle' career arc of Director Bryan Singer who started the mutant movies by helming the first X-Men movie.

Some members of the cast: Hugh Jackman, Jennifer Lawrence,  Michael Fassbender, James McAvoy, Patrick Stewart, Peter Dinklage and Ellen Page, Patrick Stewart, Ian McKellen and a whole lot more.

The main treat for X-Men fans is that "Apocalypse" will be set in the 80s, and it may feature some of the mutants that were previously 'lost'-and probably re-cast with younger actors (as they would technically be younger than they were in the first X-Men movie).

Screen Rant elaborates:  X-Men: Apocalypse will continue with the core cast of First Class and will skip ahead another decade (again) to take place in the '80s. With the time period and setting, this means we could see younger versions of the original X-Men cast - including potentially Cyclops, Jean Grey and Storm - as hinted at by Bryan Singer."

This would be an exciting development and it will see the vision of the X-Men being rebooted without discarding the events of the first trilogy.

As always, time travel solves everything.

"X-Men: Days of Future Past" opens on May 23. Two years later, "X-Men: Apocalypse" checks in on May 27, 2016.
