Jimmy Kimmel NBA Mean Tweets [VIDEO] Has Paul George Flipping The Bird, Jeremy Lin Using His Harvard Smarts And Dikembe Mutombo As 'Cookie Monster!'

The latest edition of the fast-rising segment, "Mean Tweets" in "Jimmy Kimmel Live" featured athletes from the NBA. The hilarity takes on a whole new level.

It's not just the athletes, though. Sportscasters like Bill Simmons from ESPN (aka The Sports Guy) and retired player Jalen Rose was there.

One of the best highlights was Paul George flipping the bird when a tweet called the name "Paul George" an "ugly ass name." The name was his father's name as well. Actually, according to his nba.com bio, his parents are "Paul and Paulette George." (No kidding!)

Other funny moments have Jeremy Lin turning on the Harvard snobbery when he criticized a tweet that said he needed to "git in the weight room" with "you need to git the spellcheck."

Stephen Curry, the young, boyish looking sharpshooter from the Golden State Warriors was quite affected when someone called his facial hair "pubeyy."

The height of the hilarity was the last segment where Dikembe Mutombo, the retired NBA player from Congo who still has a heavy African accent read the tweet that said: "If anything ever happens to the guy that does the voice for Cookie Monster, I can sleep at night knowing we have Dikembe Mutombo as a backup." The gigantic center acknowledged that the tweet was funny.

Jimmy Kimmel's wife, Molly McNearney, shared with Entertainment Weekly how they came up with the idea of the viral segment:

Almost two years ago, Jimmy was reading some terrible things people were writing to him on Twitter. He was reading them and he was like, 'Oh man, people are awful!'He was reading them to me and the thought occurred to me: 'We should have everyone do this.' In fact, my friend Kelly Oxford, who is very popular on Twitter, was at the house and she started reading hers back and forth, and the two of them were reading these awful things people had said. And I think they kind of took comfort in knowing, 'Oh, I'm not the only one that people are awful to.' So I wanted to provide that to all the celebrities on Twitter. I think it's kind of therapeutic for them to realize that they're not alone. Also, I think it really illustrates how mean and cowardly and toxic people are online. I mean, every comment section is a danger zone. I don't think people realize that the things they're saying actually can hurt people. And I don't think they realize people are reading the things that they say about them. So, the bit serves two purposes. One is to illustrate how terrible people are. And second, it's allowed celebrities to be self-deprecating, and I think it's funny to see these celebrities read terrible things about themselves."
