After a rather surprisingly lopsided Finals series with the Miami Heat, the San Antonio Spurs are now the top team to beat in the NBA. But after all is said and done, we can never discount the fact that there are still a number of San Antonio Spurs news and rumors which may not sit well with fans. 

Now that Tim Duncan has the option to opt out of his contract and became and unrestricted free agent, it could spell trouble for the Spurs in case he chooses to leave. But at this point in his career? We're pretty confident he would stay. 

The same goes for Manu Ginobili, who stated in a report that he is playing for the 2014-15 season. 

As for Coach Greg Popovich, he said he wasn't tired coaching and he would come back next season. "I don't feel tired. I mean, I'm tired today, but I mean in general. I'd like to continue to coach", after his Spurs team clinched its fifth franchise title, making him the third coach with the most number of NBA championships.

But what about the others?

Reserve guard Patty Mills, whose role became crucial in the Finals after a minor injury by Tony Parker in Game 1, tallied more than 14 points in San Antonio's last two games, adding to Kawhi Leonard's Finals MVP production. He would be a free agent this coming break and if the Spurs do not go for him, other teams would surely get the Aussie player as a reliable reserve or even mold him as a starter. 

Boris Diaw, who played quality minutes in the Spurs last three games, and considered by LeBron James himself as 'another point guard' on the court, will be in the free agent market soon. While Diaw is not in any way an All Star, his rebounding and defensive prowess, as well as his passing abilities make him a very important piece in a Spurs team that values bench depth so much. 

In case Duncan decides to retire before the next season starts, a good option for San Antonio would be Pau Gasol who would also become available. While he does not have the inside prowess and defense that Duncan has, he would be able to stretch the floor with his midrange and outside shooting.
