There are still a lot of upcoming Android phones for 2014 in spite the dozens we have seen already. And Micromax does not want to get left behind in terms of smartphone design and build quality. 

And so the Indian manufacturer has recently launched the Canvas Gold A300, and today it is now available in the company's home market for only Rs. 24,000 or around $400. 

So what does the Canvas Gold A300 have in store? The Android-powered handset packs a huge 5.5-inch display with Full HD (1920 x 1080) resolution, an octa-core CPU clocked at 2GHz, 2GB of RAM and 32GB of built-in storage. 

Unfortunately, the device does not seem to have a microSD card slot, thought he 32GB memory may suffice for most users. There is also dual-SIM support which is highly popular among handsets in India. 

The flagship level smartphone also packs an impressive 16MP primary camera at the back while there is a 5MP front facing shooter to capture selfies and conduct video calls. 

The Micromax Canvas Gold A300 comes with a rather small 2,300mAh battery so expect mediocre battery performance. It runs on Android 4.4.2 Kit Kat out of the box, which is good especially for hardcore Android fans. 

Interestingly, the new Android phone has not even been announced by Micromax, and in the report by GSM Arena, it could be because it is focused on marketing its Windows Phone 8.1-based handsets. 

Besides, the fact that the announcement came from a retailer, Infibeam, and not Micromax itself means the Indian mobile maker could be planning a latter launch date. 

Oh well, it is already available from Infibeam where consumers can order online. The handset will be shipped within 5 to 6 days.
